Technical Department News

There are several 'security pop-up’s which have to be clicked before actually getting to my mail. Could you please tell me what I can do to eliminate the certificate error message?

The solution is to install the certificate (at least within IE 7) and then the browser "recognizes" the installed

certificate and the error no longer pops up.

There may be a warning box displayed whenever you switch between a secure and nonsecure connection or you may have already turned it off.

Clicking on "Continue ..." may bring up two situations:

 1) Pop-up "Certificate Error".

2) There's also the message: "To protect your security, Internet Explorer has blocked this website from displaying content with security errors".

Regarding the two "warnings" about non-secure items, the item that is not secure is the CCIL logo image file.

Here are the steps to follow to trust a web site certificate:

1. To Install a Site Security Certificate for a Trusted Site, Start Internet Explorer, and open CCIL Web Page https://www.ccil.org. You may get the error when opening ‘Web Mail’.

2. Click on the Certificate Error Address Error Alert Button, and click on the View Certificates Link.

3. Click on Install Certificate Button.

4. Click Next Button in the Certificate Import Wizard.

5. Click Next Button.

6. Click Finish Button.

7. Click Yes Button to Install the Certificate.

8. A Pop-Up Window Will Appear Confirming the Installation of the Certificate.

9. Click the OK Button to Continue.

10. The Certificate Can Now be Viewed by Opening Internet Options, Selecting Content Tab, and Pressing the Certificate Button. Select the Trusted Root Certification Authorities Tab, and Scroll Down to View the Site Certificate.

Click here to view an extensive and visual Word document describing how to install Certificates. Some of the windows may not appear as your PC operating system.
