Questions From Our Users

DIAL-UP CONNECTIONS

How do I set up my Internet account connections?

O

On the CCIL main web page http://www.ccil.org, you will find a User Support link on the left panel. Two useful and very important links, "email" and "PPP Setting" will help you apply Internet and email configuration settings.

For new users, we mail copies of these pages so you can setup your computer to access the Internet. If you have a work computer, or have access to a friends computer, you can print the instructions to a printer. It's much easier to see the instructions in front of you, than having someone over the phone explaining the setup.

How can I set my browser to open to  a particular web site?

Have you ever gone to a particular web site a lot, and wish your browser would start up at that location.

That can be done by going into your browser Home Page settings. The settings for your Home page will depend on your browser.

  • With Microsoft Internet Explorer, you would go to the Tools menu and drag down to Internet Options.

  • When the new window pops up, select the General tab.

  • You will see in the window Home Page -- Address: field at the top.

  • Type in the URL you want to start the browser. That will be your first page to open in the Internet Explorer window.

  • For the CCIL home page, just type in http://www.ccil.org and click on the OK button. That should open IE at CCIL Home page.
